Welcome!

If you have landed on this page, you are most likely a participant of our Saturday session at TESL Ontario next weekend, October 26, 2013. Starting now, we would like to invite you on an exploratory trip of flipped learning for ELT purposes.

As mentioned in the email you’ve received from us, we’d like to flip the conference session to give everyone an opportunity to experience flipped learning.

One of the biggest critiques of flipped learning is that it is time-consuming. Some fellow teachers have said creating videos takes too much time. Therefore, in our session we’ve decided to focus on using Personal Language Learning Environment (PLLE) and Open Access Resources (OAR) to demonstrate that flipping can be achieved by curating what’s already out there.

Curating OAR is also an excellent way to scaffold learner’s independence. By using content available online and in daily life we are promoting self-directed learning. The more learners can tap into existing learning opportunities, the faster they achieve their dream level of English.

At your own pace, follow the steps in our Blendspace lesson http://bit.ly/17wGoEN (click link) to get ready for the session:

blendspace

Blendspace is a great tool for flipping activities for language classes. It’s very easy to use. By incorporating it in the pre-session activity we wanted to demonstrate its applicability for a scaffolded flipped learning scenario.

Thank you and see you on the 26th!
